10 THINGS TO DO IN FUERTEVENTURA
When you go on vacation, you want to make the most of it. You want to take in the sights, the sounds, and the experiences. There are so many things to do in Fuerteventura. 1 - Spend Some Time on the Beach
One of the first things you’ll want to do after travelling is relaxing. Spend some time on the beach to do that. There are some beautiful landscapes. The beaches can get a little windy, but there are plenty of natural windbreakers around so you can enjoy the sun and the heat.
2 - Spend Time in the Villages
There are some beautiful and quaint villages around the island. Make sure you spend some time in them. Some of the villages barely get any tourists, so you’ll get a chance to meet the locals and immerse yourself in the local culture. Don’t forget to visit the markets and experience the food, tastes, and sounds on your way around.
3 - Go to El Cotillo for Seafood
Seafood restaurants are in abundance around Fuerteventura, but you’ll want to go to one in particular. None quite cook and arrange their seafood like El Cotillo. All the sea life is freshly caught and cooked just the way you like it.
4 - Explore the Volcanoes
One of the top things to do in Fuerteventura is to take a trip around the volcanoes. After all, this is why the island is so famous and popular. You can arrange hikes up some of the volcanoes or just take a look around the bases of them. Opt for a guided tour to take in the history of the beautiful location.
5 - Visit Lobos Island
Private boat tours are extremely popular. Take a trip to Lobos Island for your private boat tour. It’s well worth the money for the amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Take your snorkelling gear with you for a chance to explore at the island.
6 - See the Colonel’s House
The Colonel’s House is a beautiful and imposing 18th century building in La Olivia. It’s the home of the island’s former military officials and now features a beautiful museum to those who lived there. Immerse yourself in the history. Don’t visit on Sundays and Mondays, as it’s closed.
7 - Take a Trip Through the Peninsula de Jandia
The Peninsula de Jandia isn’t for the faint hearted. You can hire your own 4x4 over the rough, twisting terrain. However, many people chose to get the Morro Jable bus and allow someone experienced to take them around the hair-raising cliffs.
8 - See the Villa Winter
Gustav Winter built this network of cellars and watchtowers that are now a historic site. There is a lot of speculation around the area, with its network of caves and cellars, but it does have a concentration camp history. You will get that feeling as you walk through. There are a few stories to tell while you take a look around.
9 - See the Centro de Arte Canario
If you love art, this is definitely one of the things to do in Fuerteventura. It’s full of amazing pieces, both from local and international artists. There’s also a quaint café for a bite to eat.
10 - Visit the Museum of Traditional Fishing
You may not think you’re interested in fishing, but this is a place to add to your list. The history is interesting, but you can also benefit from quiet spots, beautiful lagoons, and more.
